Janisse, thank you for this. Another map to make. A book map. You deserve a break. I was thinking today, you do SO MUCH, you make my head spin. But we’re all grateful for every drop of goodness you share with us.

I'll be slowing down soon. My own head has been spinning. I'm not teaching again until fall (if then) and I'm not taking any new work.

Ooh, a book map! I have sometimes done this with students, when they're working on long essays--I bring in art supplies and have them draw out a map of their essay. I've also had them map out articles that they're reading, to understand the argument. I love finding ways to bring the visual and the artistic into writing.

I'd love to see any images of this that you have. I've mapped out essays, but just blocks of scenes. The finished product doesn't look like a map. It looks like a bunch of boxcars.

I will reread the chapter in Draft # 4. It’s a great resource. Thanks for the tips on physically arranging the parts of a manuscript. I am working on one now.
