You just taught me the word "humus" — which I misread as "hummus"! I'm still working on what my weekend will look like, but hoping to be able to sign up and attend the metaphor workshop. It's my favorite literary device!
A story is a connection. Re: the Wendell Berry metaphor, which I love, it reminds me of the NYT's The Morning in yesterday's paper. The author, whose name I've forgotten, asked herself and her readers if a story matters if you can't remember it any longer. Here's another version of her answer. Yes, its fertilizer. Thanks Janisse!
Looking forward to the Metaphor workshop! I love Wendell Berry's metaphor for story. The fill in the blank: A story is a piece of who we are, a fragment of our heart offered up for others.
A story is a whisper on the wind of life experiences and the feelings evoked. It is compost that builds the soil year after year with its rich details. It is a song sang to me in childhood and vision used to help a loved one leave this world in peace.
Can’t wait for the Metaphor Workshop! See you all soon! 💜
Looking forward to this!

Hummus with s tasty. Most of us would not eat humus.
I think of a story as a song.
