I will be teaching a free online workshop tonight on writing your DNA story. Even if you don’t have a surprising & wild story that involves taking a DNA test, you are welcome to attend. You can write instead about any family secrets or surprises.
The workshop will be held this evening, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024 starting at 7 pm Eastern Time. I’ll teach until 9 or so, although you can jump off the call whenever you need to. There will be time for questions.
Bring a journal or notebook and be prepared to generate.
The Reason
I’m editing an anthology of DNA stories. So many great ones have taken place since this technology became available. Has a DNA test permanently changed your idea of the past? Has a secret been blown open by this technology? The availability of inexpensive DNA testing has meant jaw-dropping surprises and serious reckonings within families.
Pass the Word
You are also welcome to invite others you think will benefit from this or who have a great DNA story. Hope to see you tonight!
$1,000 Cash Prize Offered
Cash prizes will be given to the three top essays submitted to an anthology of DNA stories edited by me.
If your essay is accepted for the anthology, you will receive 3 author copies, a small honorarium, plus half the profit of all copies you sell (by affiliate links).
Submit an essay of 5-20 pages DS in 12-point font to me at tracklesswild@gmail.com by midnight on Nov. 1, 2024.
The first-place award is $1,000. Second prize is $250, third is $100.
I so much look forward to reading your work.

I'm definitely intrigued. I've held off on doing any of these because my dad is adopted and while his parents have passed away I have held off in respect for him so I don't connect with anyone he isn't interested in knowing. But I am *so so* curious for myself.
